The Library Service has been formally established and today launches its official website at libraries.gov.vin, where branch opening hours, membership, borrowing rules and the digital collections are published.

About the Library Service

The Library Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network is responsible for the branch libraries at the principal sites of the Velocity Interoperability Network, for membership and lending, and for the digital collections available to every member.

It holds 214,600 physical items and 41,800 digital titles, receives on deposit the official publications of the Network's departments and offices, and provides study places, reference enquiries and reading programmes at every branch.

Milestones

  1. 6 September 2026

    Library Service established

    Responsibility for the branch libraries, membership and lending, the digital collections and the deposit of the Network's official publications.

  2. 6 September 2026

    libraries.gov.vin launched

    Branch opening hours, membership conditions, borrowing rules and the guide to the digital collections published on the official website.

  3. 6 September 2026

    Branches, membership and digital collections confirmed

    Seven branches open between 7 and 11 September, membership opens to new applicants, the digital collections open to members, and the first statistical release is published.

  4. Forthcoming

    Quarterly reporting and the mobile library

    The first full quarterly statistical report, covering the quarter ending 30 September 2026, and the route of the mobile library serving the smaller sites will be announced in the Newsroom.
