Library Service Opens Membership to Staff and Citizens of the Network
Office of the Spokesperson

The Library Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network today opened membership to new applicants. Membership is available without charge to the staff of member organisations, to citizens of the Network and to their children, and to visitors resident in the Network for more than thirty days. Institutional membership is available to the libraries and reading rooms of member organisations.
Applications are made by writing to the Service with the applicant's name, category of membership and identification details. A membership number is issued by email, normally within two working days, and the membership card is collected at any branch on presentation of identification. The digital collections may be used from the day the membership number is issued.
The 8,340 readers registered with the reading rooms of member organisations before establishment have been transferred to the Service and hold membership from today; their existing cards remain valid until replaced. The categories of membership, loan entitlements and the steps for applying are set out on the Membership page of this site.
