Statistics
The Library Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network publishes statistics on loans, membership, stock and the use of its services. Its first release, published on 6 September 2026, covers the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, during which the reading rooms and lending collections of member organisations were transferred to the Service and operated under interim arrangements, and records the position at establishment.

Loans by branch. The six reading rooms that became branches of the Service recorded the activity below during the transition period. The Transit Reading Room, which opens on 11 September 2026, is not included. Stock is stated as at establishment.

Activity by service. Digital loans were made through the interim access arrangements of member organisations, which were consolidated into the Service's digital collections at launch. Attendances at sessions relate to the story time and reading group sessions continued from the former reading rooms.

Schedule of releases. Statistics are published quarterly, within one month of the end of each quarter, and annually. Each release is announced in the Newsroom and is deposited in the Official Publications collection.

Method. Loans, renewals and reservations are counted from the transactions recorded in the catalogue system. Visits are counted by the entrance counters at each branch and are rounded to the nearest ten. Stock is the number of catalogued items held on the shelves or on loan, excluding current issues of periodicals. Figures for the transition period were compiled from the records of member organisations and may be revised in the next release.
